There are very few people who have had a profound impact on my life - my parents, my husband, my English teacher, and last but not least, Ruth. Most of these people influenced who am I today (an inspired woman, with an appetite and a passion for writing). As for Ruth, she changed the way I do breakfast.
Almost two years ago, my naturopath put me on the Elimination Diet (which eliminated sugar, grains, dairy, etc). At which point she introduced me to Ruth’s Chia Goodness. A gluten-free, dairy-free, high-fiber breakfast “cereal”.
I was intimidated by the bag of pebble-sized ingredients (chia, hemp and buckwheat) and by the serving size which was only 2 tablespoons.
Needless to say, it was not love at first sight. But….it WAS love at first bite.
I had my first bowl of Apple Almond Cinnamon (one of 4 flavours) and Ruth and I have been together ever since. The medley of apples and cinnamon smells delicious. And for something this healthy, it tastes pretty darn good!
What makes Chia Goodness so GOOD?
- It’s raw, gluten-free, dairy-free (and vegan)
- It’s convenient - Add 4 tbsps of hot water or milk (I use almond milk) and let the mixture hang out for 3 to 5 minutes. Ta-da!
- It’s satiating - Two tbsps go a LONG way, thanks to the fiber (4 gms per serving) and chia (expands 9 times in liquid).
- It’s portable – Take it to work and keep it in your desk for an afternoon snack.
- It’s yummy - So GOOD, that some days it doubles as dessert.
- It’s good(ness) – Less than 10 ingredients! Chia (high in protein, antioxidants and Omega 3), Buckwheat (good source of protein, B vitamins and minerals), Hemp Seeds (a great source of Essential Fatty Acids), Dehydrated Apples, Almonds, Raisins, Cinnamon, Celtic sea salt(R) and Organic Cane Sugar (the only area for improvement – but hey, it’s better than HFCS),
So, are you ready to “healthify” your morning ritual with a breakfast as GOOD as this?
If you answered ”yes”, check back next week for your chance to WIN all 4 flavours! It’s just too GOOD to keep to myself.

I love this cereal as well! I I need more like 4 Tbsp to keep me going till lunch, 2 Tbsp is a good snack though.
Yep – A few extra tablespoons definitely keeps me going (and going) quite a bit longer. Two tablespoons surprisingly keeps me full for a couple hours. More than a slice of bread:)
YES! I have never tried Ruth’s but it sounds delish…and much quicker and easier than mixing all these things together myself.
I love Chia Goodness and eat 4 tbs too! You can add nuts, fruit along with almond or hemp milk. Awesome! I would love to try the other flavors!
This is my favorite cereal! I just love it! I leave a bag of Chia Goodness at work and have it for breakfast…..it delicious!
