Inflammation plays a key role in chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, hypertension, osteoporosis and a vast array of other medical conditions – including rapid aging…yes ladies, want to be wrinkle free longer? Then pay attention.
Atherosclerosis (build up of plaque in the arteries) seems to have made itself common in todays society, and just like the aforementioned is driven by inflammation.

to stop or prevent atherosclerosis (statins like crestor), when can you expect to get off of it? Never – you are on it the rest of your life. However, you have preventative options:
Option 1 - You can take an aspirin a day (to “thin” your blood). But do you really think this problem is caused by a lack of Aspirin in your system?
Option 2 – You can address the cause of the problem instead of using band-aid solution. Get rid of the inflammation.
The same 2 options apply for all chronic disease: (1) Drugs or surgery (2) Prevention
How do you know you are suffering from inflammation?
Are you consuming the 5-12 servings of grains a day as recommended by the Food Guide? If yes, then you are inflamed! In the diagram below, check out the physiological and biochemical pathways that start with “grains” that ultimately end with inflammation. Remember, grains are rich in omega 6 fatty acids which can be inflammatory. Chronic consumption of grains yields chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation yields chronic disease.
Maybe you are 20, or 30 and don’t have a chronic disease YET. Take a look at your parents: how many medications are they on? How is their lifestyle shaping up? Are they going to live to a spry old age? Do you want to follow in their footsteps? Do you want you or your kids to follow the trends of 90% of North Americans today with one or more chronic disease, on 14 or more prescriptions?
One more point - the absence of symptoms DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE HEALTHY. Your daily actions determine whether you are healthy or not. Are your daily actions feeding your body with the ingredients it needs for success? Or driving it into a pit of failure?
